About LJ Computing
The name LJ Computing comes from two names – Jim and Lynn Willmore. Many years ago, when the Internet was just starting to become commercial, Lynn and I had the idea of opening our own web design business. The business idea never took off, but the name, and the domain name, remained all these years later.
In September, 2015, Jim started working for an IT consulting company.
In August, 2015, Jim left the job as a Senior Programmer Analyst for a software company.
In January 2015, Jim changed jobs and now works as a Senior Programmer Analyst for a software company.
Jim used to work as a Lead Programmer Analyst for a defense contractor. Jim wasn’t always a “code monkey”. In fact, his Bachelor’s degree from York College of Pennsylvania is in Psychology. Jim later found that his passions lie more with geek-like pursuits.
Jim was always drawn to computers, how they work, and how to make them do what you want them to do (i.e. programming). Jim’s first computer was the Atari 600XL, and the first language he learned was BASIC. Later, Jim was given the opportunity to use BASIC on the Commodore 64. The first “real”, or “modern”, languages Jim learned were C++ and Perl. Later, Jim learned Java, and has been programming in Java ever since he first learned the language.
Jim saw the need to go beyond the basics of Information Systems and obtained a Masters in Information Systems Management from Walden University. Jim also became certified in the Java programming language.
Lynn is an avid gamer and enjoys playing role-playing games, but has little interaction with LJ Computing at this time. Lynn may write a bit more about herself in the future, but for now, know she’s the “L” in LJ Computing.
